Mother's Milk Bank of North Texas

Breast milk, a gift for a lifetime.

One of the best gifts a mother can give her baby is the gift of her breast milk. Many recent studies have proven the superior nutrition of breast milk and supported its use as a preventive treatment for food allergies, ear infections, eczema, diabetes, obesity late in life, Crohn's disease and many other maladies.

For ill and premature infants, the gift of breast milk can mean the difference between life and death. These infants are vulnerable to infection and organ damage, much of which can be prevented if they are fed breast milk rather than formula. Many mothers of ill and premature infants are unable to provide enough breast milk for their babies. These infants can benefit greatly from banked donor breast milk.

Founded in 2003, Mothers' Milk Bank of North Texas accepts donated breast milk from carefully screened, healthy, breast-feeding mothers. Milk is pasteurized, tested to ensure that no bacteria exist and frozen until it is prescribed.

MMBNT follows the guidelines of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America. These procedures are costly, so a small processing fee is charged. This fee covers less than half of the actual costs involved in screening donor mothers and pasteurizing, testing and storing donor milk. As a nonprofit corporation, MMBNT must find support from the community through grants and donations of time and funds.

Please feel free to browse our website and see who we are, a bit about our history, and how you can help by making donations or volunteering. Any amount or type of assistance is appreciated. The Mothers' Milk Bank of North Texas is a 501(c)(3) organization and most donations are tax deductible. We are also a member of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America.
